Make Your Own Breadsticks
From: Roma of Mt. Blanchard
2/3 cup warm water                          1 pkg. dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt                                1 Tablespoon sugar
¼ cup soft shortening                       2 cups all purpose flour
Combine water and yeast. Then add in the salt, sugar and shortening. Add in half the flour and mix well. Add in the remaining flour and knead until smooth, about five minutes. Let the dough rest and rise for about one hour. Punch down and divide the dough in half. Take each half and divide into 24 pieces…roll into pencil shapes and place on a greased cookie sheet, 1” apart. Brush with egg wash and dust with Parmesan cheese. Bake at 425 for 20-25 minutes.
