1/2 cup butter, softened 1 cup sugar 1 teasp baking powder
1/4 teasp baking soda dash of salt 1/2 cup sour cream
1 egg 1 teasp fine shredded orange peel 1/2 teasp lemon extract
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
beat butter with electric mixer for 30 seconds, add sugar, baking powder,
soda and salt....beat well. Add in sour cream, egg, peel and extract and
blend well. By hand, add in the flour. Divide dough in hand, cover and
chill for 2 hours or until easy to handle. On a well floured surface, roll out
half of the dough to 1/4" thickness, cut out desired shapes, place cookies
1" apart on ungrsd cookie sheets. Finish w/remaining dough. Bake at
375 for 6-7 mins. Cool on wire rack.
Icing:
4 cups sifted powdered sugar with 1/4 cup milk. Stir in additional
teaspoons of milk until desired glaze spreading consistency.
Tint if desired.
