6 cups fresh blueberries OR frozen blueberries, thawed/drained
1 Tablsp lemon juice 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teasp grd cinnamon
1/4 teasp grd nutmeg 4 teasp cornstarch PREHEAT oven to 400
Put berries in a large bowl, sprinkle with juice and set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cornstarch....
blend well, then pour over the berries and toss gently to coat. Transfer all
to a 2 quart casserole or similar baking dish. Set aside while making the topping:
1 1/2 cups flour 1/4 cup sugar 1 1/2 teasp baking powder
1/2 teasp baking soda 1/4 teasp salt 1/8 teasp grd nutmeg
1 1/2 teasp lemon zest 5 Tablsp melted butter 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
Combine flour, sugar, powder, soda, salt, nutmeg and zest.
In a separate small bowl, stir together butter and milk, add both together and form
a nice dough, spoon evenly over the berries. Brush tops of the dough with an
additional little amount of lemon juice and sprinkle with additional sugar.
Bake 25-30 mins, until top is golden and fruit is bubbly. Serve warm.
