In a pint jar, layer these ingredients as given:
1/4 cup dry split peas
7 beef bouillon cubes (or 1/6 cup granules)
1/8 cup pearl barley
1/4 cup dry lentils
1/8 cup dried minced onion
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 cup uncooked long grain rice
1/4 cup macaroni
Seal jar tightly, add recipe card:
To make soup: remove macaroni from the jar and set aside.
In a large saucepan, brown 1/2 pound ground beef, drain well.
Add the remaining jar ingredients, 1 1/2 quarts of water and a 14 oz. can
diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for
45 minutes. Add the macaroni and cover, simmer for another 15 mins.
This could also be cooked in the crockpot all day.
